Care Guide

This piece is made from natural wool and should be handled with care.

Over time, the fleece will naturally compress and evolve with use. Some fibers may loosen or shed as she settles into herself—this is part of her nature.

Gently fluffing the surface by hand can help maintain its texture, though its character will continue to develop.

Avoid excessive moisture and friction to preserve the integrity of the wool. If needed, spot clean with cool water and allow to air dry.

When not in use, store the piece in its dust bag with the included bolster to help support its shape.

Presentation

Each piece is carefully prepared before it leaves the studio.

It is wrapped in soft tissue, placed within its dust bag, and accompanied by a hand-signed and numbered bolster.

It is meant to be opened slowly.

Created in Karen Borga’s New Jersey studio using locally sourced fleece and lavender.

One of one.
Unique by Nature.

There’s something alive in these pieces.

The fleece begins wild—raw, sheared, unwashed, and full of its own movement. I work with it slowly, guiding it into form rather than forcing it, allowing its natural character to remain.

Inside, the lining reveals itself slowly. The color came through its own process—through several dye baths, shifting as it emerged into its own presence.

Each piece carries the life of the fleece, the movement of the dye, and my energy as I brought it into form.

A Closer Look

Fleece - Long White Romney Locks

This fleece called to me the moment I saw it. She was in her raw, unwashed state, still carrying the life of the farm. I could see her potential immediately, though I never imagined the radiant texture that would emerge.

In the finished piece, the body feels soft, almost sensual, with a radiant texture full of depth and gentle shifts. It invites touch and rewards closeness, revealing new layers each time it is worn.

Lining

The cotton lining was hand-dyed in deliberate contrast to the softness of the fleece. A vibrant blend of terra cotta, gray, and yellow unfolds inside like a hidden landscape — rich, alive, and quietly luminous.

It offers a private moment of beauty and warmth for the one who carries her, a gentle surprise each time the bag is opened.

Strap — Cork

The strap is made from cork, harvested from the bark of a tree. I love how this natural material — once protective outer layer — is transformed into something supple and lightweight that carries beautifully.

It brings an earthy grounding and quiet strength, balancing the airy volume of the fleece with a tactile, organic elegance.

Hardware — Brass

The brass hardware serves as adornment, like delicate jewelry on the piece. Its warm metallic gleam provides a subtle contrast to the softness of the wool and the vibrancy of the lining.

It adds a final layer of presence and completion, catching the light gently and giving the bag a refined, sculptural finish.
